Projecting stems from an emotional and intellectual engagement with artwork and artists of the past. In particular, I gravitate towards artists and writers (such as Bas Jan Ader, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Spaulding Gray, and Emily Dickinson) who used their own bodies or subjective experiences in their work.

Using a video projector, I made these artists and their personal spaces “appear” in my studio so that I could interact with them. These set-ups represent an attempt to understand the work, the working process, and the personal lives of these artists who are no longer around to speak for themselves.
